New Reality TV Program Featuring Indigenous Canadian Entrepreneurs Is Set to Premiere This September

For years, shows like Dragon’s Den and Shark Tank have offered budding entrepreneurs the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pitch their products to a panel of the world’s most successful business owners. Well-known companies like Vertical Motion clients Bin Breeze and Origenair, plus Saxx Apparel, Magic Whiteboard, and more have benefited from their air time on these two popular sets. This fall, however, they will need to make room for a third reality business competition show featuring the talents of Canadian indigenous entrepreneurs.

The Bears’ Lair premiers September 2022 on APTN and will showcase 18 indigenous entrepreneurs pitching their businesses to the panel of bears. The Bears’ Lair season one panel includes Dave Tuccaro (owner of Tuccaro Group), Tabatha Bull (president and CEO of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business), Rob Louie (owner of Indigenous World Winery and Distillery), and Geena Jackson (executive producer and CEO of Bears’ Lair).

The winning entrepreneur will take home a $180,000 grand prize, several business products and services, as well as ongoing mentorship from the bears. Executive producer Geena Jackson notes, that “while The Bears’ Lair has all the drama, suspense and excitement of the other business competition shows that came before it, the common thread connecting the participating entrepreneurs is a drive to give back to their communities and create a business that will sustain them financially while also making a difference.”

After long anticipation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced on June 1 that the first operational images taken by the James Webb Space Telescope were released to the public on Tuesday, July 12. In the months since its launch on December 25 of last year, the James Webb Space Telescope has been through several alignments, calibrations, and testing procedures in preparation for this exciting day.

Although preliminary images have been released over the last few months, the July 12 images showcase Webb’s impressive capabilities in full colour. NASA says it has taken five years of planning and discussion among several participating space agencies to decide what those first images will show. In a quote from NASA earlier this month, they explain that Webb’s first images represent a substantial first step in “exploring the early universe, the evolution of galaxies through time, the lifecycle of stars, and other worlds.”
